2nd Weekend of August
Come Join Us For A Weekend Of Celebration
Cornfest has been celebrated since 1976 when we crowned Twyla Sycks our very first Miss Backus. The day is celebrated starting with a flea market with many local vendors, and a lunch put on by the Cornfest Committee held in the Backus fire hall. Then there is a themed parade with prizes given in a variety of categories, followed by a corn eating contest, games for all ages, a treasure hunt, and food from local vendors. The evening is finished with a raffle drawing, a street dance with a live band and fireworks over the lake.
On this site you will find any events put on by the Cornfest Committee with dates and locations, pictures and stories of years past and any forms you may need to join in the run for Royalty, participate in the parade or even be a vendor in the flea market!
Join us on Uptown Sunday as well!
Kick off the Morning with an outdoor Church service put on by Blair Ecker from Pine Mountain Gospel at 10:30 am
Then there is going to be a carshow put on by Country Cruisers Car Club at noon.
